Pebble Cactus Project

If you like to have plants around the house and have the world's worst green fingers, so much so that there's a good chance you could even kill a cactus, then this project is perfect for you.

Also, if there are kids in the house, this is a great idea too as it could be a nice little craft project for them as we enter a colder season and finding 'stuff to do', while it pours rain outside, is all part of a parents daily quest.

All you need are some pebbles, small pots (with a bit of sand), and craft paint.

Get the kids to decide what colour they want to paint them (the more colourful the better) and choose what type of spines or thorns you'd like. You should head to the Botanic Gardens or search for images online for inspiration

If you want to stick 'branches' on the sides, use smaller pebbles and glue them with a glue gun or strong superglue. It's probably a good idea to do this before you start painting them.

There are loads of options and colours and the kids can have fun painting over them again and again, trying out different designs.
And if you are the type of person with a lack of 'green fingers' then this might very well be the answer to your involuntary plantslaughter.
